Woman robbed and assaulted 61-year-old man she met on ‘sugar daddy’ site after he refused to give her money, Texas police say
A 26-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly robbed and assaulted a 61-year-old man she had met on a “sugar daddy type site” and demanded money, according to Texas police.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Kaley Renae Medina had an expensive dinner on Nov. 11 with a man she met on the “Seeking Arrangement” website.
“My understanding of this site, looking at the site itself, is where beautiful people and rich people or words to that effect come together,” Salazar told reporters.
“What appears to be, for lack of a better term, a sugar-daddy type site where people with money meet younger people who need money and make some kind of arrangement to go on a date or whatever,” he said. “Sometimes to obtain some kind of financial compensation. In my world, we have another word for that.”
While that initial dinner concluded without incident, Salazar said Medina showed up at the man’s home nine days later, on Monday at 2:30 a.m., demanding that he give her $2,000 for a shared bottle of wine.
When the man said he did not have that amount of money on hand, she allegedly began destroying his property and attacked him. she supposedly destroyed your flat screen TV, a custom paint job and an entertainment center. Salazar said Medina fled with the man’s passport, an iPhone, his ID, a surveillance camera and a Dyson hair dryer.
He also allegedly poured laundry detergent on the man’s head. Salazar said the detergent caused severe burns to the man’s eyes. The man was able to crawl out of his residence and shout for help from his neighbors.
Medina fled the man’s home, but officers located her and arrested her.
Salazar went on to warn the public about the danger of using “sugar daddy type sites” to seek romance.
“The person on the other end may be a young, attractive person who attracts that, but this person was clearly dangerous,” he concluded. “This gentleman ended up with chemical burns to his eyes, and he could have done it.” I ended up dead because of this.”
Medina was booked into the Bexar County Jail on $20,000 bail and charged with second-degree robbery.
