Video shows driver of NYC DOT truck inconsolable after decapitating elderly pedestrian
The driver who hit and decapitated an elderly pedestrian in Brooklyn appeared inconsolable in a new video taken of the gruesome scene.
The man was on his knees and at times hunched in grief over on a Brooklyn street as cops and a bystander tried to comfort him, according to a video that emerged on social media Thursday.
The unidentified driver, who was wearing a bright yellow vest, was driving a city Department of Transportation truck when he allegedly mowed down the 86-year-old man, whom sources identified as Antonio Conigliaro.
The octogenarian lived a few-minute walk from where the crash happened in Bay Ridge, cops said.
The sickening footage also showed the victim’s head several yards away from the rest of his body, which was crumbled in the crosswalk.
“Oh my God, this is a bad day,” a woman can be heard saying on the video.
She added the driver was turning the corner onto Dahlgren Place when the crash happened that is reportedly known to be a dangerous intersection.
“Especially the walk sign. It turns on but by the time you’re in the middle of the road, then it’s gone. Somebody who is disabled or somebody who cannot walk fast — it’s really really dangerous for them,” Bay Ridge resident Samia Haq told News 12 last week.
The NYPD said the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
