Two NYPD cops shot in Queens by 19-year-old

Two cops were shot in Queens while trying to stop a suspect on a motorized scooter early this morning.

The officers in plain clothes, part of the public safety unit in the 115 precinct, stopped the suspect at 89th St. and 23rd Ave., Elmhurst, at 1:41 AM.

When the cops tried to pull the scooter over, the suspect ditched the bike and started to run.

The cops chased after him and the suspect pulled out a gun and fired at the officers.

One was hit in the back and the other received a graze wound to the stomach.

At least one of the officers fired and hit the 19-year-old suspect in the leg.

The cops were taken to Elmhurst General Hospital and the suspect was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital.
