Texas Governor Abbott endorses Trump

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott endorsed former President Donald Trump for a second term as president Sunday during a campaign event in Edinburg, a city about 30 miles from the Mexican border.

“We need a president who will secure the border,” Abbott said. “We need a president who will restore law and order to the United States of America, who will not allow these criminals to loot the stores that you see images of almost every night.”

“We need a president who will restore world peace, unlike this outbreak of war under Joe Biden. We need Donald J. Trump to return as our President of the United States of America. I am here to officially proclaim my support for Donald J. Trump to once again be President of the United States of America!

Trump said it was a “tremendous honor” to earn Abbott’s endorsement as he spoke to an audience of a few hundred supporters.

Trump again suggested during the rally that he would build the border wall if elected, saying it would make Abbott’s job “a lot easier” because “walls work.”

Abbott reiterated some of his comments about his support for Trump in a post on Sunday afternoon.

“Today I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president,” Abbott wrote. “Now more than ever, America needs a president who will secure the border and prioritize national security. “President Trump is the clear choice to get the job done.”
