A Salvadoran who had previously been expelled from the United States after entering the country illegally will be expelled from the United States again, according to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service. Press release.
“This Salvadoran non-citizen posed a threat to Maryland residents,” said ERO acting Baltimore field office director Darius Reeves, according to the news release. “He is a documented member of a violent street gang that uses our communities to hide from authorities in his home country. ERO Baltimore will not allow the world’s criminals to use Maryland neighborhoods to escape justice.”
The individual had been arrested by the Border Patrol in May 2011. He was expelled from the United States in July 2011.
“The San Salvador Police Department arrested and charged the Salvadoran national with crimes related to public peace, illicit groups and illegal possession of a firearm in July 2013 and identified him as a member of the 18th Street criminal gang at that time. moment,” the press release states. “The San Salvador Police again arrested and charged the Salvadoran citizen with illegal possession of a firearm in November 2015.”
At an unknown time, the individual illegally re-entered the US, according to ICE, which notes that Border Patrol encountered him, as well as his wife and son, in March 2021.
“The non-citizen filed an application for asylum and withholding of removal with US Citizenship and Immigration Services in May 2022. A Justice Department immigration judge in Baltimore denied his application the following month,” notes the Press release. “In February 2023, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officially closed the noncitizen’s case and reinstated his removal.”
“Deportation officers from ERO Baltimore’s Fugitive Operations Team arrested him at his residence in Cockeysville and served him with a notice of intent/decision to reinstate the previous deportation order. The Salvadoran national will remain in ICE custody pending his removal of the United States,” the press reported. release states.
