George Santos is out, but spare us Dems’ sanctimonious moral lectures

George Santos’ term as the nation’s punchline is finally over, as his House colleagues voted 311-114 to oust the brazen con man.

He’s the sixth guy ever ejected from the House, and the first not to already have been convicted in court — but he certainly deserved it.

The House wisely waited until the Ethics Committee verified the endless media accounts of Santos’ fabrications and apparent violations of multiple federal laws, but the sheer number of them — including all the lies he ’fessed up to after winning office, on his education, his family’s background, work history and supposed Jewish heritage — left no need to wait any longer.

And kudos to freshman New York Republican Reps. Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro and Anthony D’Esposito for their months-long push for Santos’ expulsion.

Nor should Democrats offer any moral lectures here.

Sen. Bob “Gold Bars” Menendez still has his security clearances.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman has suffered no real penalty for pulling a fire alarm to disrupt House proceedings.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s gotten only a slap on the wrist for her pro-genocide rhetoric.

Santos’ eventual ouster became inevitable when the truth started pouring out soon after his election.

We can only wish congressional justice would be as swift on the other side of the aisle.
