Barbra Streisand says she will leave if Trump is elected
Singer Barbra Streisand stated that she will leave the United States if Donald Trump becomes president, a claim she also made before Trump’s victory in 2016.
The trend of celebrities saying they would flee the country if Trump becomes president resurfaced when Streisand appeared on a recent episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Colbert asked the 81-year-old what she thinks of the current political climate, to which she responded, “I like Biden. I think he’s done a good job. I think he’s compassionate, smart and supports the right things.”
The host then asked about a possible second term of the Trump administration, prompting the singer to respond clearly: “I’m moving.”
“I can’t live in this country if he becomes president.” Streisand then explained that he would be crossing the pond. “Probably England. I like England.”
Of course, this wasn’t where Streisand said she was moving when she first made that tired statement. In August 2016, Streisand spoke on the Australian version of “60 Minutes,” where he said Trump “has no facts” before saying he would leave the United States.
“I don’t know, I can’t believe it. Either I will go to your country, if you let me in, or to Canada,” he said, according to The hill.
“It worries me. I don’t take anything for granted. I want Hillary Clinton to be president of the United States,” he added.
Streisand was part of a long list of notables who made similar claims before the 2016 election, including two then-hosts of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg and Raven-Symone.
“I’m moving to Canada with my whole family. I already have my ticket,” Raven-Symone said, as Goldberg offered immediate impeachment.
“Maybe it’s time for me to move… We can kick his ass. There’s something called impeachment,” he said, according to the newspaper. hollywood reporter.
Other notable celebrities who faked a plan to leave the United States included Miley Cyrus, who said her heart was “broken into 100,000 pieces.”
“Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston He said, “Of course, I would definitely move.” He then added that “it’s not real to me that that happens. I hope to God it doesn’t happen like that.”
Regular anti-Trump comedians like Lena Dunham, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler and more also chimed in on the empty claim at the time.
During her interview with Colbert, Streisand also promoted the new UCLA Streisand Center.
“Now I have a center at UCLA that is going to study and is starting to study the power dynamics between men and women,” he explained.
Other research fields of the center include “Truth in the Public Sphere” and the “Impact of Climate Change.”
