Trisha Yearwood ‘Never Expected’ Garth’s Sexual Assault Scandal (Excl)

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood held hands as they walked through a Habitat for Humanity construction site in St. Paul, Minnesota. The country stars were lending a hand in honor of their friend Jimmy Carter, a longtime advocate for the housing charity, to mark the former president’s 100th birthday.

On September 30, Garth posted a photo of the tender moment he shared with his wife on Instagram, captioning it, “As they say, home is the key, and love never quits!”

Just three days later, their love was put to the test. In a lawsuit filed in California on October 3, a former makeup artist and hairstylist for Garth, 62, who’s also worked for Trisha, 60, filed a complaint under the pseudonym “Jane Roe” accusing Garth of raping her in an L.A. hotel suite in May 2019 during a business trip, undressing in her presence, exposing his genitals and buttocks, groping her breasts while she worked, sending her sexually explicit texts he allegedly later deleted off her phone and speaking to her about his sex fantasies — including wanting “a threesome” with her and his wife of 18-plus years.

The woman is seeking monetary and punitive damages. “It’s heartbreaking for Trisha,” a source exclusively tells In Touch. “She loves Garth more than anything — she never expected this.”

According to sources, friends are telling the country singer turned cookbook author to stand by her man — and so far, she has. On October 7, Trisha posted a photo of herself singing with Garth in Las Vegas, captioning it “Love One Another.”

Garth Brooks Speaks Out Amid Sexual Assault Scandal

The “Friends in Low Places” hitmaker has denied the claims. “For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face,” Garth, who has a net worth of at least $300 million, said in an October 3 statement, insisting he’s “incapable” of committing such “ugly acts” and won’t pay “hush money” for something he didn’t do. “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”

Garth first denied the woman’s allegations, anonymously, in a preemptive complaint filed on September 13. In court papers, “John Doe” sought to block the claims of a “lying extortionist” set on “destroying his professional reputation.”

In new court documents obtained by In Touch, Garth amended the complaint and revealed the woman’s name. (In Touch has made the decision not to disclose her name.)

“Garth Brooks just revealed his true self,” the accuser’s lawyers fired back. “Out of spite and to punish, he publicly named a rape victim. With no legal justification, Brooks outed her because he thinks the laws don’t apply to him. On behalf of our client, we will be moving for maximum sanctions against him immediately.”
