Woman who suffered heart attack on subway died after police forced to chase down Bronx train: sources

A woman who suffered a heart attack aboard a subway train in the Bronx Saturday morning died after first responders were forced to chase down the northbound train for several stops, cops and sources said.

The 46-year-old straphanger was found unconscious seated on board a 5 train at the East 180th Street Station near Morris Park Avenue around 11:56 a.m., according to the NYPD. 

Police said they responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls from passengers notifying them of the startling incident.

Sources told The Post the woman went into cardiac arrest at the Simpson Street Station, leading first responders to head there, only to find the train had continued on with the critical passenger. Medics finally reached the woman at the East 180th Street station, four stops away.

The unidentified woman was transported to Montefiorie Hospital in the Bronx where she was pronounced dead, police said. 

The city medical examiner’s office will officially determine her cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.
