Tyson Foods heir John Tyson busted on DWI rap in latest scrape with cops after passing out in stranger’s bed

Embattled Tyson Foods CFO John R. Tyson on Thursday was arrested for allegedly drunk driving and suspended by the company – the latest in a series of legal headaches for the meat-processing company scion.

Tyson — who caused a scandal in 2022 after being found half-naked in a college-aged woman’s home and passed out in the stranger’s bed — was busted at 1:32 a.m. ET local time in Washington County, Ark., according to an arrest record

The 34-year-old was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and making an improper turn or U-turn, the report said. Tyson was released about nine hours after his most recent arrest and is slated to appear in court Friday.

“We are aware that John Randal Tyson, Chief Financial Officer of Tyson Foods, was arrested for an alleged DWI,” Tyson Foods said in a statement.

“Tyson Foods has suspended Mr. Tyson from his duties effective immediately and named Curt Calaway as interim Chief Financial Officer.”

A fourth-generation member of the Tyson family, Tyson took over as CFO in late 2022. He was widely seen as a potential successor for the roles of chairman and CEO, which were previously held by his grandfather and father.

Tyson is a former JPMorgan investment banker with degrees from Harvard and Stanford.

In November 2022, Tyson was arrested for public intoxication and trespassing after a bizarre incident in which he entered the college-aged woman’s home.

The woman called police to report a potential burglary after discovering “a male she did not know asleep in her bed,” according to a police report at the time.

Local officers detected an odor of intoxicants on Tyson’s breath and described his movements as “sluggish and uncoordinated.” The entire incident was recorded on police bodycam footage, which was published by TMZ and other lets.

Tyson later pleaded guilty to the charges and agreed to pay a $150 fine for each charge, as well as a total of $440 in fees.

At the time, Tyson also apologized to shareholders for his actions and said he would seek counseling for alcohol abuse.”

“I made a serious mistake and this has caused me to reflect deeply on the impact my actions can have on others,” Tyson said at the time.
