Teyana Taylor’s Ex Iman Demands She Be Thrown in Jail For 20 Days

Ex-NBA star Iman Shumpert demanded his ex-wife, Teyana Taylor, be found in criminal contempt of court and thrown in jail for 20 days, weeks after her lawyer asked for him to be locked up, In Touch can exclusively report.

On Monday, May 5, Iman, 34, filed a motion for contempt, obtained by In Touch, accusing Teyana, 34, of violating their divorce deal, which was reached in July 2024.

The deal covered child support, custody and division of their property. Iman claimed the divorce order prohibited either party from talking about the case.

In his motion, he explained that on March 12, Teyana “willfully and contemptuously exposed and broadcast specific provisions of the final judgment decree of divorce and related provisions, recklessly disregarding the financial circumstances, privacy, safety and security of the parties and their minor children.”

Iman said as a result of Teyana’s actions, he suffered loss of income and damage to his personal and professional reputation.

He said, “The precise amount to be more particularly stated and proven at the trial of this matter.” He also accused Teyana of taking their kids out of school for no reason, willfully obstructing and interfering with his right to pick up the children on April 17.

Iman also accused Teyana of denigrating and speaking ill of him in front of their kids.

“For example, in the presence of the children, [Teyana] has shouted crude and inflammatory racial insults at [Iman]. Such insults and criticism of [Iman] have caused the children to unjustly suffer stress and worry, unfairly placing the children in the self-imposed position of peacemaker between their parents,” his motion alleged.

His lawyer added, “Insulting [Iman] in the presence of his children was maliciously intended to damage the relationship between father and child. Denigrating and insulting [Iman] in the presence of his children is a … violating of the orders of this court.”

The former NBA star asked the court to find Teyana in civil and criminal contempt for her actions.

He demanded she be fined $1,000 and imprisonment for up to 20 days.

Iman’s petition comes weeks after Teyana filed a motion to find him in contempt. She accused him of leaking sealed divorce documents to the press.

She filed the motion after seeing inaccurate reports about the divorce being published online.

Her lawyer wrote, “[Iman] has consistently exhibited an alarming disregard for the consequences of his contemptuous behavior and should be found in willful contempt of the Court’s Decree.”

Teyana’s petition asked the court to throw Iman in jail for 20 days and pay fines.

She took to Instagram Live to deny she wanted Iman locked up stating, “I never tried to send Iman to jail. I’m still not trying to send Iman to jail.”

One of the requests in Teyana’s petition is to have Iman incarcerated.

Iman’s lawyer, Stephen C. Steele, denied Teyana’s claims he had any part in leaking information.

He released a public statement stating, “My client, Mr. Iman Shumpert, has never whatsoever leaked any allegations or claims stated in any of the pleadings in” the divorce. He added, “Mr. Shumpert adamantly denies that he has provided any information to any media.”

The lawyer ended, “Specifically, but without limitations, he denies that he leaked any information which may have served as the basis for the multiple news reports preceding the trial of this matter.”

In his official response to Teyana’s case, Iman noted he denied committing or causing any act to distract from the positive news about Teyana and her career.

As In Touch previously reported, Teyana filed for divorce in January 2023 after seven years of marriage. The exes share two children, Junie and Rue.
