Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood Returns to Instagram After Year Break
She’s back! Teen Mom star Amber Portwood made a return to Instagram after stepping away almost a year ago.
“Hi loves! it’s been a year long break from social media, but I’m back!” the reality star, 34, wrote alongside a photo of herself taken with a gold filter shared on Saturday, December 14. Amber was snuggling a black cat in the photo.
Several of her fans were happy to see that she was back on Instagram.
“Aww welcome back amber portman. Take it day by day and don’t let people bring you down you are stronger than u think. Stay positive girl,” wrote one Instagram user.
Another person added, “Welcome back its great to see you keep smiling because you are so beautiful inside and outside.”
Last month, Amber had uploaded the same golden-hued photo via TikTok.
“We know if we have a heart of gold inside and if we are hardened like gold inside, too. Sending so much love and positive energy,” the reality star wrote alongside the snap.
Before her most recent upload, Amber’s last post on Instagram was on December 30, 2023. The Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star shared a meme that showed her excitedly covering her mouth with her hands with the words “Me anytime someone notices my glow up” written at the top.
“As the year ends I’m grateful for each of you. You’ve stood with me through it all and here we stand together,” Amber wrote in the caption. “So many lessons were learned and I’m ready for what 2024 has to offer.”
The last year has been particularly rough for the mom of one as she dealt with her now ex-fiancé Gary Wayt going missing in June. Amber filed a missing person’s report with the Bryson City Police Department in North Carolina on June 11.
The former couple had recently traveled to the state for a family wedding. Gary, 39, left the rental home where he and Amber were staying. Later that day, he was spotted driving in Oklahoma, over 900 miles from where he’d last been seen. Local law enforcement officials in Bryson City confirmed that Gary had been found three days later via Facebook but added that “no additional information was available.” The two broke off their engagement a short time later.
Some of the ordeal was captured on film during the September 12 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. Fans saw officers inform Amber that Gary had been found safe, but the MTV personality later opened up about the toll the situation took on her emotionally.
“This man broke me,” Amber told producer Kiki Malone.“I was stable. Right now, this is the first time in years in my life — I am 34 — I am not f–king right because a man put a ring on my finger. You broke me because we were actually in love.”
Amber also addressed the amount of hate spewed online, including the false accusations that she had murdered Gary.
“Why am I getting persecuted? ‘We know Amber killed him,’” she continued. “I had to deal with that. Do you know how that feels when people are calling you a murderer to your f–king fiancé?”
