Target was caught offering the same prices for its ‘Black Friday deals’

A Target store was allegedly caught offering “Black Friday deals” that were no different from the prices the big-box retailer sets during the rest of the year.

DeJay Downey posted a viral video on TikTok showing him searching for products at an unnamed Target only to discover that the Black Friday price tags showed the same price as the non-Black Friday deals.

Downey was in the electronics section looking at the prices of televisions when he reached out to the screen displaying the prices.

The sheet of paper showing the Black Friday price of $649.99 was the same as the non-Black Friday prices, which were hidden behind the “updated” sale price, according to the video.

“It’s the same thing, I don’t understand it,” he said in the video. “I’m confused.”

Downey noted that the sales price remained unchanged for several other items.

As of Monday, the video has been viewed more than 38.4 million times. It has generated almost 60,000 comments and 3.3 million likes.

A Target spokesperson told The Post that the TVs “were on sale ahead of Black Friday as part of our first Black Friday sales.”

“We continue to offer those items at the same discount during Black Friday, but we updated the signage to reflect the extended time,” a Target spokesperson told The Post.

The company said that “in both cases” buyers would have saved “between $20 and $80 depending on the TV they purchased.”

“Those discounted prices compared to regular prices are clearly displayed on both sale signs in the video,” the Target spokesperson told The Post.

TikTok commenters reacted to Downey’s post with their own experiences.

“I found one where the regular price was lower than the Black Friday sale,” TikTok user Brandon Saunders chimed in.

Another TikTok user commented: “Too many of us have worked in retail to not check them.”

“Black Friday deals used to be SO GOOD,” Kirsten Elizabeth wrote on TikTok.

“Now I don’t even bother. Even online they raise the price, to ‘lower’ it.”

A TikTok user who goes by the name “Sharlene” wrote, “That’s why I stayed in bed relaxing!”
