Repeat offender Jamaul Bobb shot twice by cops in NYC: officials

A convicted felon allegedly charged at cops in Brooklyn and acted like he had a gun — prompting officers to open fire, hitting the suspect twice, officials said

Jamaul Bobb, who has four prior arrests including one for allegedly slashing two people with a scissors in Manhattan in January, at first fled when he was approached by officers Friday night in East Flatbush, authorities said.

Police offiers were responding to a domestic assault in Brooklyn when a man allegedly charged at them like he had a gun and they shot him, officials said. Seth Gottfried

The cops were responding to a 911 call of a domestic assault with a knife when they encountered Bobb, 29, who allegedly ran for 2 1/2 blocks before he suddenly turned around and lunged.

“For an unknown reason he stops, he turns, he makes multiple intentional moves like he has a firearm and charges our police officer in a full sprint from approximately 20 feet away,” NYPD Chief of Department John Chell said at an early morning news conference at the scene.

The incident took about four seconds, Chell said. The nature of the relationship between Bobb and the victim in the domestic assault wasn’t clear, cops said.

Bobb was taken to a hospital in stable condition, cops said.

He was also accused of threatening a man and asking him if he wanted to die before slashing the victim on the arm inside a homeless shelter on Duryea Place in Flatbush, sources said. The homeless shelter slashing came hours before Bobb’s encounter with cops in East Flatbush.

Bobb has four prior arrests, including three for assault and one for a gun, all in Midtown Manhattan, Chell said. Bobb allegedly slashed two people with a scissors at Seventh Avenue and West 40th Street on Jan. 14, police sources said. The outcome of the case is unclear.
