Read Jaime King’s Makeup Artist Declaration Denying Actress Was Addict

Jaime King used a declaration from her makeup artist, who praised the actress’ clear complexion, in an effort to fight her ex-husband Kyle Newman’s accusations of drug abuse, years before she was stripped of joint custody, In Touch can exclusively report.

In Touch obtained a series of declarations that Jaime, 45, submitted as part of her divorce battle with Kyle, 49, in 2020. The declarations were written by cast and crew from Jaime’s Netflix show Black Summer, which she was filming at the time.

Jaime used the declarations to fight Kyle’s claims she was a drug addict who desperately needed help.

The actress previously the court, “I do not have an alcohol or substance abuse problem nor did I at the time.”

She accused him of stalking her and using a GPS tracker to know where she was. She claimed Kyle made false allegations about her to friends to isolate her.

They both accused the other of getting physical during the marriage, which they both denied. One of the declarations filed by Jaime was from her personal makeup artist Ashley Levy.

Ashley said she met Jaime in 2019 and had been working with her ever since. She said she worked with Jaime on Black Summer in Canada, and except for a brief break, had virtually daily contact with her in 2020.

Ashley claimed she overheard Jaime’s phone calls with Kyle. She alleged Kyle was “hostile” to Jaime and once called her a “terrible mother.” Ashley claimed Jaime was always on time to set and had a positive attitude.

“I never saw Jaime under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. I have had plenty of experience with people with drug and alcohol problems, and I can testify that Jaime does not have any alcohol or drug problems I have ever witnessed,” Ashley claimed.

“During the shooting of season two when I worked with Jaime, if she had abused drugs or alcohol I would have noticed it,” she said.

“It would have had an effect on her skin and complexion. I never witnessed any such effects,” Ashley added. “In fact, Jaime’s skin and complexion were so good and immaculate that in season two she filmed make-up free. The only time I observed Jaime not to be upbeat while we were on set were on those occasions when she had interactions with Kyle that upset her.”

She claimed Jaime was a “loving and attentive parent.”

Jason Lim, a producer on Black Summer, wrote his own declaration. He claimed Jaime was hard-working and inspirational to the cast and crew.

He said, “In regards to the substance abuse allegations that her husband has made, I can attest to the fact that there is none.”

He said he never witnessed Jaime “overindulge” or get drunk during cast and crew events.”

For his part, at the time, Kyle claimed, “Jaime has spent the past decade high. Jaime abused opiates before the children were born, continued to abuse drugs and alcohol throughout her pregnancies … driving under the influence with them in the car, becoming so intoxicated in front of them that they thought their mother was dying and abandoning them for days at a time to get drunk and high instead of care for them.” Jaime denied the claims.

As In Touch first reported, earlier this month, Kyle was awarded primary custody of their two kids, James Knight and Leo Thames, months after he claimed he had concerns after finding Jaime “strung out” while taking care of their kids. Jaime denied the accusations.

Her lawyer, Diana D. Hagopian, said, “The allegations against Jaime are entirely false and intended to cause her harm and garner damaging media attention.”

Jaime accused Kyle of using the court battle to make “unfounded malicious claims” and claimed he was using their kids “as weapons and pawns without regard to their privacy.”

Per the court order, Jaime will have supervised visitation, three days a week, with the kids but will continue to share joint legal custody. The visits will remain supervised until Jaime completes a six-month drug/alcohol program with weekly testing and after care.

In addition, she will have to complete a 26-week parenting program and counseling.

Jaime and Kyle were married from 2007 to 2020.

In his petition, filed last year, seeking full custody, Kyle wrote, “The children are currently in danger when in their mother’s care. Jaime King is suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and is emotionally abusing and neglecting our children; placing them in danger and exposing them to many disturbing people and situations, including sexual content. The children are begging me to help rescue them from the chaos in their mother’s home.”

He said he found Jaime “strung out” on October 17, 2024, after the kids called him to come get them at her home.

“I arrived [at] Jaime’s house around 7:45 a.m. I knocked on the door and was greeted by the boys. I went inside and I saw Jaime sitting on her knees on the floor, wearing a navy blue and white varsity, her hair was in pigtails and she appeared to not be wearing any pants (or maybe had short shorts on). There were two men there.”

He continued, “Jaime looked distressed, strung out and was acting drunk. She gestured for me to come over to her because she tried to get up but could not stand. Jaime was slurring her words and said, ‘Those are bad boys.’ We have to do something about our boys. Their behavior is not right.’”

Kyle said he took the kids and left. Earlier this week, Jaime spoke out about a separate legal matter stating, “I am currently focused on what matters most: my children.”
