Prosecutors want judge to fine Trump $3K, hold him in ‘contempt of court’ for alleged breaches of gag order

The Manhattan DA’s office urged Justice Merchan Tuesday to fine Donald Trump $3,000 — and hold him in “contempt of court” — for allegedly breaching a gag order by disparaging trial witnesses.

Trump, 77, was ordered to follow a limited gag order in March barring him from slamming against hush money trial witnesses like his ex-fixer Michael Cohen and the porn star Stormy Daniels.

He’s still allowed to bash Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and Judge Merchan — but is barred from ripping their families.

Yet Trump nonetheless took shots at both Cohen and Daniels in social media posts over the weekend.

In one of the posts, Trump shared a 2018 statement from Daniels from 2018, in which she denies the two had sex, and falsely claimed that it was new. Daniels has repeatedly said that she was coerced into writing the statement, and has called her alleged tryst with Trump “the worst 90 seconds of my life.”

Prosecutors want Merchan to fine Trump $3,000 for three alleged gag order breaches — and warn the ex-president that he could face up to 30 days in jail if he flouts the court order again, Tuesday’s court filing says.

Trump’s lawyers are expected to file their own court papers and Merchan has scheduled a hearing on the issue for next Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

Trump has also railed against the gag order repeatedly online.

“Take off the Gag Order!!!” he wrote in a Truth Social post Tuesday morning.
