In 2021, Prince Harry signed on as “chief impact officer” of BetterUp, “a coaching and mental health app that he, himself, has used in the past.”
“What we’re doing is about equipping people to thrive,” said the Duke of Sussex, 40, who reportedly earns $1.2 million a year for the role. “Whether you’re performing at the highest level, or want to get to the next level, or just want to get started, it’s all about having the specialized resources, preparation and human connection to back you up — whatever the challenge.”
BetterUp is facing its own challenge now. On the job-rating site Glassdoor, several current and former employees are speaking out about their experiences at the company, calling it a “psychologically unsafe place to work.”
One staffer claimed that BetterUp is led by an “elitist club of managers” who “have no moral compass,” while another dubbed the coaching platform a “toxic train wreck” where “everyone is uncomfortable and living in fear.”
A source exclusively tells In Touch that there’s “little doubt” that Harry’s been made aware of the shocking allegations and that “his friends, the higher-up execs at BetterUp, have probably filled him in on their side in all this.” Still, as he is a longtime mental health advocate, “this could be a nightmare for Harry,” adds an insider.
