Police conduct another search on Gilgo suspect Rex Heuermann’s home: report

Police returned to the Long Island home of Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heumermann on Monday to launch a new search, his attorneys said.

Heurmann’s defense attorney, Michael J. Brown, and a lawyer for his estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, confirmed that authorities Monday were searching the home of the man suspected of killing four women over a decade ago, Newsday reported.

Brown confirmed a search warrant had been served, though it was not immediately clear what prompted the renewed search or what police were seeking to find in Heuermann’s home ahead of his looming trial.

“I haven’t found a copy of the warrant yet, so all I can confirm is there is police activity,” said Ellerup’s lawyer, Robert Macedonio. “There have been no [new] arrests made nor are we anticipating any for the family.”

Brown said the search was launched while the home was unoccupied. Ellerup and her son are in South Carolina, while her daughter is elsewhere.
