Rapper Offset demanded a six-figure judgment over an alleged strip club beatdown be vacated, claiming he had no idea he was being sued, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Offset, 33, told a Florida judge that he was not properly served with the legal paperwork.
Back in January 2020, TMZ reported Offset and his then-wife, Cardi B, had an incident at the Booby Trap On The River strip club in Miami.
After Cardi, 32, was sprayed with champagne by a concertgoer, Offset reportedly became upset and hit the guy.
In video of the altercation posted by TMZ, Offset appears to be throwing punches into the crowd.
In October 2021, Offset was sued by Leamsy Izquierdo and Humberto Crespo, who added BT’s On The River aka Booby Trap On The River, as a defendant.
Leasmy and Humberto said they were paying customers and business invitees at Booby Trap on the night Offset and Cardi were present.
The duo claimed that while inside the strip club, Offset and Cardi were situated in an elevated VIP area.
They claimed Offset “unprovoked, jumped from the elevated area in the VIP section to unilaterally assault, attack and battery” them.
The two claim that Offset attacked their head, face and body which “caused severe and permanent injuries.” Leamsy and Humberto claimed the club had a history of failing to provide adequate security so that “patrons are frequently assaulted and battered within its premises.” The lawsuit accused Offset of assault and battery.
The two accused the Migos rapper of intending to cause harmful and offensive contact in that he looked into the crowd searching for the plaintiffs and “lunged toward them on purpose in order to strike them.”
The alleged victims claimed they required medical treatment and care for their injuries.
In addition, they claimed to have suffered emotional distress due to Offset’s alleged actions at the club. The lawsuit demanded unspecified damages. The strip club denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
They argued that the alleged victims’ actions, including their behavior of spraying champagne within the club contributed to, or was the sole cause of, the incident and their injuries and damages.
All claims against the club were dismissed voluntarily months later. In August 2024, the alleged victims were awarded default judgments.
Offset was ordered to pay $123,000 to Leamsy and another $109,000 to Humberto for a grand total of $232,000. Now, in his new motion, Offset scoffed at the two alleged victims’ claim they served him at a nightclub.
He said the club was packed with fans and music was playing loudly. He pointed out the process server’s declaration gave no indication that Offset personally, or that anyone, at any time on his behalf, picked up or took the “papers.”
Offset asked for the default judgment to be vacated and the lawsuit to be dismissed due to him having no ties to Florida, where the case was filed. A judge has yet to rule on Offset’s request.
As In Touch first reported, Offset, who is in the middle of a divorce with Cardi, recently worked out a settlement in a lawsuit over an alleged trashed rental.
