NYC workers Fiorenza Piccorelli, Shawn Arthur charged with assault in separate incidents
A pair of New York City employees – including an on-duty paramedic – were arrested Sunday in separate incidents after they were each accused of assault, according to cops and law enforcement sources.
FDNY paramedic Fiorenza Piccorelli and Department of Education educator Shawn Arthur were arrested 15 hours apart in two different boroughs on New Year’s Eve. Each was hit with assault charges, police said.
Piccorelli, 32, allegedly punched a woman in the face around 8 p.m. as she was lying down across Amsterdam Avenue in the Upper West Side, cops said.
The victim, who was emotionally disturbed, was blocking the traffic when the paramedic got out of his vehicle and allegedly hit her when she would not move, police and sources said.
He was booked on an assault charge, according to the NYPD.
In the Bronx, Arthur, 44, allegedly hit a female acquaintance in the head with a closed fist and applied pressure to her throat with one hand shortly after 5 a.m., cops and sources said.
He’s facing charges of criminal obstruction of breathing and third-degree assault, police said.
The victim refused medical attention despite suffering a minor injury, police said.
An FDNY spokesperson said early Monday morning that the paramedic could face suspension after the department reviews the paperwork tied to the incident.
A DOE spokesperson told The Post the department would have information on the status of Arthur on Tuesday.
