NYC quality of life has gone down: Letters
The Issue: A new survey finding that most New Yorkers are unsatisfied with the city’s quality of life.
New Yorkers are not satisfied with the quality of life in the city (“It’s a blunderful life, New York,” March 20).
This is an understatement, to say the least. There is constant noise, trash littering the streets, shootings on the subway — the list goes on.
Furthermore, responses to 911 calls are slow, and 311 calls are even worse. If I make a complaint on my driveway being blocked, the NYPD won’t respond for hours.
Overall safety is a huge concern. Walking the streets and riding mass transit have become deadly games of roll the dice, because no-one knows if he or she will become a victim.

I was born and raised on Staten Island and used to love going into Manhattan for a Broadway play, a great dinner and a night in a hotel: No more.
Thanks to former Mayor Bill De Blasio and Mayor Adams, our once-great city is a dump.
But the people of New York City have gotten what they deserve. Vote “woke” Democrats into office and you suffer the consequences.

Michael Goodwin paints an accurate (if depressing) picture of life in New York under Democratic rule since former Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Gov. George Pataki left office.
Crime in the subways, streets strewn with garbage, drug-addicted homeless and panhandling migrants is life in New York these days.
Yet 30% of New Yorkers polled said their quality of life was “good” or “excellent” and 11% even thought the government was spending tax dollars wisely.
I have no idea who those people might be, but the fact that their vote counted the same as mine was the reason I left New York.

Congrats to Goodwin for finally getting it right: All is not well in Gotham. Whether riding the subway or buying groceries, I feel like I’m taking my life in my hands when I venture out of my apartment.
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani tamed an unruly city and Bloomberg made it the global capital until along came de Blasio, who feasted at the public trough.
Now, we have Mayor Adams forging a trail of alleged sexual and financial misconduct.

The Issue: A former member of Hezbollah arrested for crossing southern border illegally.
When are these politicians going to learn (“NYC was apple of Hez eye for bomb ‘plotter,’ ” March 18)?
They think our borders are safe. But we have an open border that anyone can cross — including rapists, thieves, murderers, terrorists and now a migrant who wanted to make a bomb and set it off in New York City.
Thank God he was caught by the border patrol before he made it to New York. This is not going to stop unless we close our borders to the thousands crossing illegally. People who want to enter the United States must do it legally and be vetted before entry.

Of all the miserable things President Biden has done, probably the most egregious is allowing migrants by the thousands to enter our country. We know members of drug gangs, murderers and delinquents other countries were happy to get rid of have come to the United States.
Terrorists, who want to die for their cause, have also arrived. It is just a matter of time before we face another 9/11. Biden and his crew of incompetents will be responsible.
