NYC carjackers swipe running vehicle with girl in backseat: cops

Carjackers swiped a vehicle that was left running — with a 4-year-old girl in the backseat — while her mom ran an errand in Queens Friday night, cops said.

The 31-year-old mother pulled up to a laundromat near 101st Avenue and 113th Street in South Richmond Hill just after 4:30 p.m. —- leaving her car running and her 4-year-old unattended in the backseat, according to police sources.

The 4-year-old girl, who was briefly abducted when carjackers took her mother’s vehicle, was later found by cops. Wayne Carrington

That’s when two men seized the opportunity to jump into the red 2023 Acura Integra — driving off with the tot still strapped in the backseat, according to the NYPD.

The little girl and the car would be found on 101st Avenue and Sanders Place just after 7 p.m..

Police sources tell The Post that the girl was uninjured and did not seek medical treatment at any hospital after being assessed by EMTs.

Photos show the youngster seemingly unbothered by the ordeal. She gave photographers at the scene a slight smile and held an inflated green rubber glove.

The girl even hugged a hug to a police officer, who broke into a smile.

Her mother showed signs of relief and distress — seemingly holding it all together while sitting in the back of an EMS vehicle after being reunited with her daughter.

The two kidnappers remain at large. They face charges of grand larceny and could be hit with kidnapping-related charges in the future, according to police sources.

An investigation is ongoing.

It was the second Big Apple carjacking involving a child in as many days.

A dad was putting his 7-year-old son in his running vehicle at 1540 MacDonough Place in the Country Club section of the Bronx Thursday when he turned to get his other child, who was just steps away, sources told The Post.

An unknown male jumped in the driver’s seat and sped off. The vehicle and boy were recovered near Tilliston and Wright avenues in the borough’s Eastchester neighborhood. The child was uninjured and reunited with his parents, the sources added.

That alleged carjacker remains at large.
