Newark shelter has been trying to find a home for ‘depressed’ dog there for 2 years
They are desperately trying to find this dog a home for the holidays.
An animal shelter in Newark is hoping to have one of its longtime canine residents adopted soon.
Six-year-old Red has spent two years in the Associated Humane Societies in Newark, New Jersey. and the shelter is noticing that “the once rambunctious and lively-spirited dog is now melancholy and depressed.”
“Our staff knows it, our volunteers know it, but the world doesn’t seem to understand that Red is an amazing dog,” the shelter posted on your facebook page.
“2 years is an excessively long time for a good boy like Red to be in the shelter and it shows.”
Even shared a link where interested Good Samaritan dog lovers can apply to adopt Red.
“Red is dog friendly and a great dog for a home with adults,” the post continued. “At 6 years old, Red has spent 1/3 of his life behind a kennel door. Can a compassionate and understanding family take Red under their wing, whether through fostering or adoption?
Heart and Soul Dog Rescue Inc., based in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, is also helping place Red in a loving home. The nonprofit rescue group posted the photos of her on their Facebook pageadding “everything you need is free, including your training.”
On October 29, the co-founder and president of Heart & Soul made a plea on Facebookwhich was shared by the Newark branch of Associated Humane Societies.
“How is it possible that no one has come down to meet this incredible dog?” he said.
“I think shelter life is starting to get to him. When he is outside with me, he just sits on the sidewalk and cries.”
