Miley Cyrus and her godmother Dolly Parton are closer than ever now that they’ve discovered they’re actually distant blood relatives, but the pop icon has made it clear she does not approve of her country star auntie being close with estranged dad Billy Ray Cyrus, a source exclusively tells In Touch.
“Dolly is not impressed by the way Billy Ray has treated anyone lately, she was appalled by what came out during his divorce with Firerose and of course she would never support him hurting Miley,” the insider says. “But she’s also not the type to just cut people out. She believes in forgiveness, so as upset as she is with Billy Ray, she’s still taking his calls.”
Billy Ray, 63, was caught berating ex wife Firerose, 34, on a leaked audio recording that heard him call her “a selfish f–king bitch,” as well as bandy other expletives about as he yelled at her for apparently causing him to be late to a last-minute show.
The disturbing audio further detailed a picture that was being painted of the now-failed marriage, with both accusing each other of causing the relationship’s disintegration.
Worse for his daughter Miley, 31, was hearing her dad trash her mother, Tish Cyrus, with whom Billy Ray shares four other adult children – Brandi Cyrus, 37, Trace Cyrus, 35, Braison Cyrus, 30, and Noah Cyrus, 24, on the same recording.
The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer adopted Brandi and Trace, who he explains on the tape are “from a previous marriage.”
He then reverses himself, saying: “No, wait a minute, I said that wrong. Not a previous marriage. The other two children … [Trish] was impregnated by two different men … Everyone knows the devil’s a skank.”
“[Trish] is a liar … and a cheat. Complete skank. Scum of the earth. A fraud.”
The “Wrecking Ball” singer and her famous father have been estranged for years since she tried to talk Billy Ray out of marrying Firerose, who is 29 years her ex husband’s junior, in the first place.
A second source previously told In Touch that “it breaks Dolly’s heart to see the Cyrus family so at odds, she loves them all. A lot of people are extremely worried about how toxic this has gotten, especially Dolly, who is Miley’s godmother.”
The first source says the consummately diplomatic “9 to 5” singer has been desperately trying to mend things between the two, but she’s not having any luck so far.
“She’s even tried to make peace between him and Miley. Those efforts have failed, but she hasn’t given up, she’s still hoping they can come back together and it’s something she’s always pushing Miley towards when they talk.”
“But for Miley, that ship has sailed. She wants nothing to do with her dad and wants Dolly to stop the forgiveness campaign,” the insider tells.
“Not only that, but she’s saying she wants Dolly to ditch Billy Ray too, for her it’s a matter of loyalty.”
“It’s highly unlikely Dolly will be bossed around by Miley though, she’s a woman who knows her own mind!”
