LI man arrested for flashing gun inside taco restaurant

A Long Island man was arrested Monday for allegedly brandishing a gun at an employee of a taco eatery who had trouble understanding his order, according to authorities and the restaurant’s owner.

Kevin Warren, 62, was charged with menacing over the caught-on-camera outburst at Tony’s Tacos in Franklin Square at 8:50 p.m. Friday, Nassau police said.

Surveillance footage obtained by News 12 Long Island shows the man tugging at the employee’s arm, in an apparent attempt to grab a bag of food she’s holding.

The suspect then lifts his shirt, showing off something tucked his waistband, and the woman takes a step back, the video shows.

Police said the man had flashed a gun.

Julia Scotto, who co-owns the Italian-influenced taco eatery’s four Long Island locations along with her husband Mike Scotto, told The Post the scary ordeal all began with a bad phone connection.

Scotto said the 21-year-old employee who took the order said she couldn’t make out what he was saying because his voice kept breaking up. He then came in and confronted her.

“He came in, he sought out the girl who took the phone order, and grabbed her hand and showed her that he was carrying a gun on his waist,” Scotto said.

Scotto said the woman was very shaken up and upset after the encounter, but is “feeling better,” after the arrest.
