Khloé Kardashian praised her mom Kris Jenner and sister Kim to the heavens in a new interview with Bustle, but failed to mention several of her other siblings – and a source exclusively tells In Touch it’s no surprise, because she’s been growing apart from them for some time and the distance is only growing wider.
Notably, the Good American founder, 40, left out sister Kourtney Kardashian, which was an intentional move, according to the insider. “Things between Khloé and Kourtney started to go south a couple of years ago, mostly because Kim put her in the middle.”
“Khloé took Kim’s side and now even though Kim and Kourtney are doing a lot better, Khloé is still not in a great place with her.
In the interview, published on Wednesday, December 4, The Kardashians star discussed her Thanksgiving, which was spent with a breathing machine on standby as she recovers from pneumonia, and the growth she’s experienced throughout her 30s in general.
“[The world is] so dark and so heavy. But I will say my sister Kim has really held my hand through so many dark phases for me. And my mom,” she told the publication. “But Kim has really been this crusader for me. I feel like she has always been holding that light at the end of the tunnel, drawing me closer to the light. I’m just really grateful for that relationship. When people see things in you that you can’t see in yourself and they keep reminding you — it’s such a special quality. We all need those champions.
While the reality star did credit “all my siblings” with helping her escape a negative mindset that made her “socially anxious” and “insecure,” she even went out of her way to mention Rob specifically.
“I think with Rob, I identify with him so much. I feel so deeply what he feels — the struggles that he has, or just wanting to be out of the public eye, or just feeling like he doesn’t fit in or is being judged about his appearance,” Khloé said. She even notes that, while Kim and Kourtney are super close, she feels like she was “paired” with Rob as a kid. “I feel like we were raised in pairs: It was Kourtney and Kim, and then it was me and Rob, and then Kendall and Kylie. And I just feel like we are both each other’s protectors. I love him so much. It’s just innate.”
The source adds that “it doesn’t help” her relationship with Kourtney “that Khloé has stayed extremely close with Scott [Disick]” – her sister’s ex. “She still openly refers to him as her brother-in-law and hasn’t gotten close with Travis [Barker] at all, obviously that’s not done her relationship with Kourtney any favors.”
“There was a time when she and Kylie Jenner were inseparable but now that Kylie’s wrapped up in her life with Timothée [Chalamet] and more focused on her friends, she and Khloé don’t hang out that much. And Kendall [Jenner]’s always in her own world.”
“It’s at a point where Khloé’s only real confidant in the family is Kim, which is sad because she used to be equally close to all her siblings but she’s really isolating herself these days.”
