Kevin Hart’s Ex-Assistant Accuses Him of Attempting to ‘Muzzle’ Her

Kevin Hart’s ex-personal assistant called out the comedian for allegedly failing to present any evidence she played a role in an alleged extortion scheme despite suing her over it, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Miesha Shakes, who worked for the entertainer from 2017 to 2020, asked to be dismissed from the case brought by Kevin, 45.

Miesha claimed Kevin asked the court to allow him to “engage in a fishing expedition” as they “anticipate that discovery will reveal” Miesha’s “further involvement.”

She said the law does “not allow [Kevin] to sue/quash [Miesha’s] freedom of speech and then hope that discovery later reveals actual proof to support [Kevin’s] claims; in fact, the statute’s purpose is to prevent such tactics.”

The Jumanji actor sued Miesha and YouTuber Tasha K for civil extortion and invasion of privacy. Miesha was also hit with claims of defamation and breach of contract.

Kevin claimed Miesha sat down for an interview with Taska K, where she shared secrets about his life.

Before the interview aired, Kevin said his team received a call from one of Tasha K’s associates. Kevin said the associate offered to not publish the interview with Miesha if Kevin paid $250,000.

The entertainer said he rejected the offer and called the police. He said his legal team also fired off a cease and desist to Tasha K warning her not to publish the interview.

In court documents, he explained Miesha signed a non-disclosure agreement after leaving her position with him that barred her from speaking about him publicly.

Tasha published the interview on December 22, 2023. Kevin filed suit weeks later, demanding unspecified damages.

Tasha and Miesha denied all allegations of wrongdoing. In her newly-filed response, Miesha called out Kevin’s claims she violated the non-disclosure agreement by giving the interview.

Miesha claimed that the non-disclosure agreement stated Kevin was to pay her $30,000 a year and provide her medical insurance for three years. In her motion, she said the deal was void because Kevin never provided her with insurance.

Her lawyer said, “[Kevin] failed to abide by their obligations under that document; therefore, [Kevin] cannot pursue [Miesha] for an alleged breach when it suits [Kevin’s] agenda.”

Miesha’s attorney continued, “With regard to the alleged invasion of privacy and defamation claims, Plaintiffs also cannot show a reasonable probability of success on the merits. In sum, Plaintiffs’’ attempt to muzzle Ms. Shakes is consistent with an alarming trend by celebrities who engage in bad behavior and then attempt to crush anyone who dares speak about that celebrity’s behavior.”

Miesha also claimed she was not in the right headspace when she executed the non-disclosure agreement.

Miesha said, “At the time of signing the NDA, I was suffering from significant mental health issues and was under considerable financial distress due to my unemployment. [Kevin] was fully aware of my ongoing health issues and critical need for health insurance and funds, as I could not afford health insurance or my prescribed medications.”

Further, her lawyer said, “[Kevin does] not contest [Miesha] believed the statements she made in the interview were based on facts that were true and accurate at the time of the interview or were legally valid opinions.” Miesha argued that all claims against her should be dismissed.

As In Touch previously reported, Kevin is also in the middle of a separate court battle with his former friend.
