Kevin Hart Settles Invasion of Privacy Court War With Ex-Assistant

Kevin Hart hashed out a settlement with his ex-assistant Miesha Shakes and blogger Tasha K and will be dropping his lawsuit against the duo, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, the comedian, 45, informed the court that he hashed out an “unconditional” deal with Miesha and Tasha.
His lawyer noted that the parties are “working on the language of their settlement agreements.” The date the settlement was reached was February 14.
Kevin’s legal team filed a notice of settlement of entire case, which means as long as no issues arise when drafting the settlement, the case should be closed in the near future.
As In Touch previously reported, Kevin filed a bombshell lawsuit in December 2023 after Miesha sat down for an interview with Tasha K.
He filed claims of civil extortion and invasion of privacy against the duo and additional claims of breach of contract and defamation against Miesha.
Miesha worked for Kevin from 2017 to 2020.
Kevin claimed before the interview was released on Tasha’s social media platforms, he received a call from an associate of Tasha proposing Kevin pay $250,000 to make the interview go away and never be posted.
The actor said he called the police immediately to report the alleged extortion.
He also had his legal team fire off a cease-and-desist warning Tasha not to publish the interview.
Kevin claimed Miesha had signed a non-disclosure agreement when she stopped working for him. He sued seeking an injunction and unspecified damages. He claimed his reputation was harmed by the remarks made by Miesha during Tasha’s interview.
The comedian told the court, “I also endorse various national brands, and those endorsement deals depend in part on a public perception of my reputation, respectability and character.”

Miesha and Tasha both denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the case. Miesha argued the non-disclosure agreement she signed was not valid because Kevin never provided her with health insurance as promised in the deal.
Her lawyer said, “[Kevin] failed to abide by their obligations under that document; therefore, [Kevin] cannot pursue [Miesha] for an alleged breach when it suits [Kevin’s] agenda.”
Miesha’s attorney continued, “With regard to the alleged invasion of privacy and defamation claims, [Kevin and his company] also cannot show a reasonable probability of success on the merits. In sum, [Kevin and his company’s] attempt to muzzle Ms. Shakes is consistent with an alarming trend by celebrities who engage in bad behavior and then attempt to crush anyone who dares speak about that celebrity’s behavior.”
Miesha said, “At the time of signing the NDA, I was suffering from significant mental health issues and was under considerable financial distress due to my unemployment. [Kevin] was fully aware of my ongoing health issues and critical need for health insurance and funds, as I could not afford health insurance or my prescribed medications.”
Further, her lawyer said, “[Kevin does] not contest [Miesha] believed the statements she made in the interview were based on facts that were true and accurate at the time of the interview or were legally valid opinions.”
Miesha argued that all claims against her should be dismissed.
The legal battle has now been resolved over a year later.
