Kellie Pickler’s Late Husband’s Parents Slam Singer in Subpoena Battle

Kellie Pickler’s late husband Kyle Jacobs’ parents slammed the country star for allegedly refusing to comply with a subpoena as their court battle heats up, In Touch can exclusively report.
Reed and Sharon Jacobs, who were appointed the administrators of Kyle’s estate, fired off a subpoena to Kellie last year, demanding she return items owned by Kyle.
Kyle died on February 17, 2023, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 49.
In their new filing, Reed and Sharon argued, “There is no question that, at the time the [subpoena] was served on Ms. Pickler, she was represented by extremely competent attorneys. There is no question that Ms. Pickler failed to comply with the [subpoena] served upon her.”
They demanded she appear for a deposition and produce the items requested.
As In Touch first reported, last year, Kellie filed a petition asking the court to step in after being hit with the subpoena. She said there was a dispute over the property in question.
The property that Kyle’s parents demanded Kellie produce included Kyle’s gun collection, his swords, including his Samurai Japanese sword, Rolex watch, Garmin watch, a 1957 J45 Gibson guitar, a McPherson KOA Guitar, a plastic bin of baseball card albums, school awards, a Steinway Grand Model M piano, a viola, and his electronics.
“A dispute has arisen amongst the parties regarding certain personal property allegedly in [Kyle’s] possession prior to his death,” Kellie’s petition read.
In her filing, Kellie claimed Reed and Sharon came to her home after Kyle’s death to pick up some of his property. Reed and Sharon admitted they went to the home but said they only took what Kellie packed up for them.
Reed and Sharon responded claiming, “[Kellie] and her counsel have provided conflicting information regarding the location and rightful possession of the items listed and, as set forth hereinabove, have admitted [Kellie] is in possession of several items of property of [Kyle].”
Reed and Sharon said they have a copy of Kellie and Kyle’s prenuptial agreement, which lays out what property is owned by the estate.
As In Touch first reported, the court battle turned even uglier this month when Reed and Sharon demanded Kellie be found in contempt for not complying with the subpoena.
Kyle’s parents said the property in question “indisputably belongs to the estate.”

Reed and Sharon continued, “Despite this court’s subpoena, and [Kellie’s] own admission that she has failed to relinquish possession of estate property, her admission that she is withholding estate property and despite numerous informal attempts to obtain the withheld property before and after [Kellie’s] failure to comply with the [subpoena].”
Reed and Sharon asked the court to issue sanctions against Kellie for her “willful violations.”
Kellie fired back, claiming, “There is simply no basis to support a contempt petition.” Her lawsuit claimed there is no order issued by the court “enforcing the subpoena.”
As In Touch previously reported, Kellie was home at the time of Kyle’s death. Her and her assistant called police after discovering a locked door, which Kyle was found behind.
According to officials, Kyle did not have drugs in his system at the time of his death. It was determined that Kyle had a history of “pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use.”
