Kate Gosselin ‘Open to Dating’ But Won’t Use Apps to Find Love

Kate Gosselin is “open” to still finding love after her 2009 divorce from Jon Gosselin, a source exclusively tells In Touch.

“She has a couple friends and as far as I know she’s not dating anyone,” the insider explains. “She wants to meet a guy through friends or the old-fashioned way, in a supermarket or coffee shop.”

Although the mom of eight — who shares Cara, Madelyn, Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Collin and Joel with her ex-husband, 48 — is looking for romance, but the source adds Kate is “not about the dating apps” after “trying that route and hating it.”

Kate, 50, rose to fame in 2007 when she and her large family starred in the TLC reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8, which followed the then-married couple as they raised their twins and sextuplets. Over a decade later, the once-united pair were not only divorced but also locked in a heated custody battle over their younger children.

Following their split, Kate was romantically linked to millionaire entrepreneur Jeff Prescott in 2015. “Jeff and Kate have known each other for over a year,” a source told Us Weekly of the couple in January 2015, who had just started dating at the time. “They like each other.”

“Jeff is a really, really good guy,” another insider told the outlet of the divorced dad of three, who is COO and cofounder of Dreamstine, a microstock photography agency. “He is very respectful of Kate and her family.”

Although the pair were seen packing on the PDA in her home state of Pennsylvania that summer, Entertainment Tonight reported that the fling had fizzled out by September.

In 2019, Kate appeared on her reality show, Kate Plus Date, in which she teamed up with relationship and dating experts to try to find her perfect match. The series premiered in June 2019 but only lasted six episodes.

Kate is rarely seen in public anymore, living a quiet life away from the cameras at her home in Troutman, North Carolina. Kate relocated from Pennsylvania to North Carolina nearly four years ago with her kids Leah, Alexis, Joel and Aaden, now 20, and twins Mady and Cara, now 24, who were both attending college at the time but would come back and visit.

“It is the biggest mixed bag of emotions and stress I have ever faced,” Kate told People about Mady and Cara going off to college in the fall of 2019, noting it was a big step for her girls. “Mady and Cara really steered the ship in terms of applying to colleges; they knew what they wanted, and I trusted them. That same feeling is going to have to carry me through my fears now when I think about them going off on their own, fending for themselves, being alone for the first time.”

Hannah and Collin, also now 20, remained in their father Jon’s care when Kate moved.

In Touch confirmed that Kate renewed her nursing license until March 31, 2027, after originally receiving an R.N. License in August 1997, 10 years before shooting to fame on TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8.
