Jamie Foxx Fans Love Seeing Him ‘Back in Full Form’: A ‘Second Chance’
Eighteen months after his near-death experience, Jamie Foxx brought his story to the stage in the one-man show What Happened Was. The 56-year-old got emotional on stage in Atlanta, wiping tears from his eyes. He reflected later, “I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love.”
In April, the Oscar winner was hospitalized with an unspecified health issue. He later said he’d suffered a “bad headache,” then was “gone for 20 days,” adding, “I don’t remember anything.”
He remained tight-lipped about his medical woes until hitting the stage. And opening up wasn’t easy. The comic called it “excruciating,” in fact, noting that he worried what the audience would laugh at. He needn’t have.
“He got serious and he cracked people up too,” an insider exclusively tells In Touch. “The fans loved seeing him back in full form.” Jamie — who recently walked his daughter Corinne down the aisle — isn’t taking it for granted. “He’s gotten a second chance in life,” says the insider. “No one is happier than he is.”
