Isla Fisher Is Looking For the ‘Anti Sacha Baron Cohen’
Isla Fisher is enjoying a fun role in the next Bridget Jones sequel while rebooting her personal life with a hunt for a new guy now that she’s free from Sacha Baron Cohen. She’s set her sights on finding someone who’s the polar opposite of her controlling ex, a source exclusively tells In Touch.
“Isla has turned the page in her life and is open about her desire to find a long-term partner, but right now she’s exploring, meeting people and enjoying the single life for the first time in more than 20 years,” the insider says. “For most of her marriage, she almost never went out socializing on her own, and Sacha was constantly by her side. It’s a totally new world for Isla, and she’s clear about what she’s looking for: an American, a hunk, and basically the Anti-Sacha Baron Cohen in every sense of the word.”
According to the source, one could say that Isla, 48, is “looking for a Travis Kelce type.” However, “what she really needs is a guy who is laid back, humble and not a control freak the way Sacha was.”
“Isla does have a ton of options because even though she’s a middle-aged, suddenly single mom, she still pretty much looks like a 25-year-old party girl,” the insider concludes. “Despite the pain of the last few years as her marriage crumbled, she hasn’t lost that sense of fun and optimism that she has had going back to her twenties when she and Sacha first got together. She still has that youthful spark and she finally has something to use it on: finding a new husband!”
Sacha, 52, and Isla announced on April 5 that they had secretly split in 2023, with both of them filing for divorce.
“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage,” the pair said in a joint statement on their separate Instagram Stories. “We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
The Dictator actor and Now You See Me star met at a party in Isla’s native Australia in 2002. Sacha told The New York Times in 2020 that he knew she was “The One” right away.
“She was hilarious. We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people in the party. I knew instantly. I don’t know if she did,” he explained.
The former couple got engaged in 2004 but didn’t tie the knot until March 2010. They welcomed two daughters in 2007 and 2010, followed by a son in 2015.
A source exclusively told In Touch in May that Isla was ready to hit the dating scene amid her split from Sacha. “She isn’t looking to go on a tear,” the insider said. “She’s just looking to meet new people and date casually.”
The source continued, “She is moving ahead with her career and getting her social life on track. She’s open to dipping her toe into the dating scene, and everyone she knows is rushing to set her up — she won’t have any shortage of options.”
