In Touch confirmed Darren filed for divorce from Tigerlily on June 24, 2021, after eight years of marriage and welcoming two children together. Six days later, a notice of nonsuit was filed and the request was granted by a judge on June 30, 2021, according to court documents exclusively obtained by In Touch. After the final decree of the nonsuit was filed and granted, the first divorce case was closed and is not active, but it is viewable by the public.
Tigerlily Taylor Abdelfattah Filed for Divorce From Darren Taylor After First Filing Was Nonsuited
Tigerlily followed up with her own divorce filing on August 11, 2021, according to legal documents viewed by In Touch. The pair agreed to sell their marital residence on December 13, 2021, and to disburse funds on February 1, 2022.
A joint order of nonsuit was filed on February 16, 2022, and the judgment granting the request was ordered that day. After the final decree of nonsuit was filed and granted, the second divorce case was closed. It is not active, but it is viewable by the public.
What Does It Mean When a Divorce Is Nonsuited?
A nonsuit is one way a civil case can be dismissed and it occurs “when the plaintiff or petitioner files a notice with the court and other parties to the lawsuit that they no longer wish to pursue the case,” according to Texas Law Help.
Is Tigerlily Still Technically Married to Her Ex-Husband Darren?
Tigerlily appears to be technically still married to Darren according to all available court documents viewed by In Touch.
In Touch confirmed that both previous divorce filings, which ended in nonsuits, are closed and not active but are viewable in the online court database. In Touch reviewed a state-wide database in Texas and no other court records for Tigerlily or Darren were found. Darren now lives in Dallas County, where nothing has been filed.
Tigerlily Opened Up About Her Divorce From Darren on ‘90 Day Fiance’
Tigerlily spoke about the “horrible” four-year divorce process from Darren on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, but stated that she and her two children were financially taken care of following the proceedings. She compared her marriage to living in a “golden bird cage,” and said her ex-husband was “very controlling.”
“I wasn’t allowed to have friends and I felt like marriage equaled prison for me,” she said during the September 2024 premiere. “I stayed in the relationship for as long as I did because of the children.”
What Does This Mean for Tigerlily and Adnan’s Marriage?
If Tigerlily is still legally married to her ex-husband, this could have a negative effect on her marriage to Adnan. U.S. law prohibits an individual from being legally married to two people simultaneously. During the spinoff, Tigerlily shared her plans for the Turkey native to join her in the U.S., but her apparent existing marriage to her ex-husband complicates any future immigration paperwork involving Adnan.
Even if the couple pursued a K-1 fiancé visa, U.S. law requires that the applicant cannot be married to a U.S. citizen.
