Influencer dies just days after common cosmetic surgery: ‘It’s not fair’

A Mexican social media influencer died from complications after liposuction surgery at an unauthorized clinic, according to a report.

Denisse Reyes, 27, had the common cosmetic procedure performed at San Pablo Medical Clinic in the southern state of Chiapas, according to the Daily Mail.

At the clinic, Reyes was administered an intravenous medication by her surgeon Dr. Orlando Gamboa prior to the procedure, according to the outlet.

Reyes had a negative reaction to that medication that would eventually lead to her death.

“She starts to feel sick and goes into cardiac arrest and at that moment they take her out of the room where she was in the [clinic],” Ammao Rodriguez, Reyes’ uncle, told the outlet.

Reyes was then rushed to Manzur Hospital where she died Wednesday.

Her uncle told the DailyMail that Reyes, who leaves behind an eight-year-old son, had no prior health conditions.

Ammao said he is in contact with Chiapas health authorities and intends to file a lawsuit against Dr. Gamboa.

“May the authorities do justice to Denisse and may the doctor pay in some way for what he did,” Rodriguez told the Daily Mail.

Dr. Gamboa made headlines in December 2024 when he was accused of being responsible for the death of a woman who died after having liposuction, the Daily Mail reports.

The beleaguered doc claims to have not been involved with Reyes’ procedure, the outlet reports.

Family of Reyes, who became famous in 2022 across Mexico social media circles, mourned online.

“You were a woman who always did what she wanted and went 1000% in her life, too free, spontaneous, extroverted, that was you,” Reyes’ sister, Massiel Reyes, said in a Facebook post, according to the outlet.

“Sister, I love you with all my heart, what is happening hurts my soul, I would like to turn back time but it no longer exists,” the heartbroken sister added.
