How Janelle Brown Honored Garrison on 1st Thanksgiving After Death
Janelle Brown was missing her late son, Robert Garrison Brown, on her first Thanksgiving without him. On Sunday, December 1, the Sister Wives star revealed how she paid tribute to Garrison on the holiday.
“First of the ‘big’ holidays without you sweetheart,” Janelle, 55, wrote on Instagram, along with a childhood photo of her son. “We all gathered in NC to celebrate together and kept your photo close by. We laughed about your silly sense of humor and told so many stories honoring you. We ate, played games and enjoyed each other’s company. Everyone is returning home now and normal life resumes tomorrow. But I feel you close by.”
Garrison was 25 years old when he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in March. He died in his Flagstaff, Arizona, home, which he purchased for $329,000 in December 2021. Janelle listed the property for sale for $425,000 in September, six months after Garrison’s death.
However, the reality star appears to be struggling to sell the home, as she cut the price to $399,000 just weeks later, and then slashed it again to $389,900 in November.
In the months since Garrison passed away, Janelle has been spending a lot of time in North Carolina with daughter Madison Brush (née), son-in-law Caleb Brush and their children. The mom of six even purchased a plot of land on the East Coast for $289,000, where she is building Taeda Farms with Madison, 29, and Caleb, 37.
“For all of us, the idea of owning a farm has always been a dream,” the farm’s website says. “Each on our own, we had this dream, imagining a life surrounded by nature’s beauty and the tranquility of country living. However, fate had its own plans. When shifts in our family dynamics unfolded, the idea of making this dream a reality emerged.”
The site also says, “Taeda Farms isn’t just about cultivating flowers; it’s about creating a sanctuary where people can gather, connect, and find solace in the beauty of nature. It’s about building beauty from the ground up.”
More than a year before Garrison died, Janelle ended her relationship with Kody Brown, who was estranged from his late son. On the November 3 episode of Sister Wives, which was filmed a year before Garrison’s death, the family patriarch opened up about hoping to reconcile with his kids.
“Janelle and I talking about reconciliation is a bulls–t pipe dream for both of us,” he said. “I talk about reconciling with her because I would like to be back in graces with my children.”
In September, he told People. “The only regret [I have] is just … take advantage of the time,” Kody, 55, said. “I want to go out to dinner again. I want to sit down. I want to have a beer. I want [Garrison] to try and make me laugh because he was that way. The only regret is just, gosh, I would just do that more often.”
