Goldfish is changing its iconic name to be ‘more adult’
Your favorite childhood snack is growing up.
Starting Wednesday, October 23, Goldfish will no longer be Goldfish. The iconic Cheddar cracker that smiles back at you will be officially renamed “Chilean Sea Bass.”
The Chilean Sea Bass crackers look and taste just like Goldfish, because they are Goldfish, just with a “more adult” name.
“We know the love for Goldfish spans all ages. Chilean Sea Bass is a playful nod to adults that the iconic fish-shaped snack is for grown-up tastes too,” Danielle Brown, Vice President of Goldfish, said in a statement.
And don’t worry — it’s only for a limited time.
The rebrand is made to emphasize that the beloved smiling fish cracker is not just for kids, reminding Gen Z and Millennials who grew up with Goldfish that the snack can still be their go-to.
This isn’t the first time the brand released something to appeal to an older palate. Goldfish Old Bay Season Crackers and Goldfish Frank’s RedHot Crackers were also made for adult snackers.
Snackers can head over to ChileanSeaBassCrackers.com to get their hands on the newly updated crackers. Fans can purchase two bags of Chilean Sea Bass crackers for $7.38, while supplies last, and new inventory drops can be expected daily through Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. ET.
You can still find the regular Goldfish everyone knows and loves at every retailer you usually buy at — even during its Chilean Sea Bass era.
Goldfish is also getting ready to reintroduce the Goldfish Elf Maple Syrup Flavored Grahams this month in time for the holiday season.
