Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling ‘Looking for Properties’ in U.K. (EXCL)
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have spent a big chunk of 2024 in the U.K. while he was filming, and a source exclusively tells In Touch the place has grown on them to the point that they’re looking to pack up shop and build a brand new life on the other side of the pond.
Eva, 50, revealed the couple was living abroad during a conversation with U.K.-based publication The Sunday Times, saying, “We’re in Notting Hill, so we have access to those communal gardens. Seriously, it’s magical.”
Meanwhile, the La La Land star, 44, has been spotted all around England while working on a new film, Project Hail Mary, with 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Fans recently caught a glimpse of the actor with a film crew on South Parade Pier in the resort town of Southsea, Portsmouth.
While initially most thought the move would be temporary to allow Ryan to work on the film, the source confirms what Eva said – that they’ve fallen in love with the place – and adds it’s likely they’ll establish a home away from home in the U.K. soon.
“They’ll still keep their place in Montecito to have a home base in California because they’ll certainly be back, but they’re ready for a change of pace,” the insider dishes. “They had such a good time in the U.K. and love the idea of giving their girls a more permanent taste of life outside America. It feels safer in a lot of ways, and they love the idea of being in Europe, they can take all sorts of quick trips, there’s so much to explore.”
The couple share two children: daughters Esmeralda Amada, 10, and Amada Lee, 8. Their mom, who retired from acting after appearing alongside Ryan in The Place Beyond the Pines – besides some small parts afterwards – now mostly works as a fashion designer and is also the creative director of the makeup brand CIRCA Beauty.
While Eva previously said she “was never in love with acting,” when it comes to her change of career toward her entrepreneurial endeavors, she insists “I still have the same level of ambition as I had before. It just has shifted.” With Eva not tied down to location shooting like Ryan, moving around for his acting career has become easier for the couple, as has picking a new spot to live.
“Eva can work from anywhere and wherever Ryan goes for work they’ll travel with him the way they do now so nothing will change on that end,” the insider continues. “His plan right now is to slow down for a bit, he’s still going to work but just not at the intense pace he has been so it’s the perfect time to explore a new country.”
“They’re looking at properties outside of London in the countryside at the moment, they want that slower pace of life.”
The A-list couple isn’t alone, as other Hollywood royalty consider moves to Europe as well, including Brad Pitt and Ellen DeGeneres.
