Comedy Project With Pete Davidson on Kevin Costner’s ‘Radar’ (EXCL)

Cameras caught Kevin Costner and Pete Davidson deep in conversation while seated next to each other at the Super Bowl, and a source exclusively tells In Touch they’re looking to build on the unlikely friendship and hang out a whole lot more in the months ahead.
“Pete and Kevin have crossed paths over the years and always clicked,” the insider says. “Pete has a lot of admiration for him, he was psyched about him being at the Super Bowl and talking movies with him.”
The Yellowstone star, 70, and his new comedian pal, 31, seemed to be more interested in each other than watching the Kansas City Chiefs lose to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in February. Despite their generational difference, the two actually have a lot in common. Kevin has been hard at work with his four-part Horizon: An American Saga, while Pete similarly created and starred in his own project, Bupkis, though he elected not to continue into a second season due to personal reasons.
The source says their love of film and television is what brought them together and is the basis for their bromance. Despite Horizon and Bupkis being considerably different genres, it ultimately comes down to the love of the game.
“They didn’t talk about sports, it was all Hollywood talk,” the source continues. “Pete is a huge film nerd and so is Kevin and they want to explore that more with an aim of possibly working on something together.”
“Kevin is always eager to try new things and genres, doing something with more of a comedy bent to it is absolutely on his radar. His sons are big fans of Pete too, so he will score huge points by bringing Pete around.”
As In Touch previously reported, the Waterwold star is keen on reviving his social life following his nasty split from Christine Baumgartner, who filed for divorce from Kevin in May 2023, after 19 years of marriage. A messy fight over terms followed, with Kevin now paying her over $60,000 per month in child support, causing many to speculate he’d be down in the dumps for years to come.
Though, unwilling to stay miserable over the implosion of his marriage and subsequent hacking up of his finances, he’s been out hitting the gym like he’s in his 20s and expanding his circle of close friends to include Jennifer Lopez and Billy Bob Thornton in an effort to pick himself back up and start living well again.
With “Kevin living this whole new, more social chapter, he’s put a huge effort into looking younger and hipper and he’s getting a great reaction and does plan to be out and about a lot more,” the source confirms.
With the newfound motivation to begin dating and having fun again only a divorce in someone’s 70s can provide, Kevin’s found a friend in Pete, and, now that the SNL alum’s committed to his sobriety, he can join Kevin in the healthier side of hanging out.
“Having a guy like Pete in his rolodex is going to be great for Kevin’s social life,” the insider assures.
