I know that I will continue my work to build my party and restore the balance of our state.”
Maloy had served as Stewart’s chief legal advisor, according to the Associated Press.
Stewart Low in September after announcing his intention to leave Congress earlier in the year.
“I can proudly say that I have been an effective leader for my beloved home state, and I am honored to have played an important role in guiding our nation through difficult times. But my wife’s health problems have made it necessary for me to withdraw from Congress after an orderly transition can be ensured,” Stewart said in a statement in May 2023.
