Boy allegedly rammed NYPD officer with dirt bike during robbery bust: cops

A 14-year-old robbery suspect was arrested for allegedly ramming an NYPD cop with a dirt bike during a Brooklyn bust Monday evening, authorities said.

The teen and an accomplice were fleeing the scene of a robbery at West 6th Street and Neptune Avenue in Coney Island around 6:30 p.m. – with police on their tail – when the youngster rammed into an officer with his 2021 Zhejiang Koolcnchet XB87 dirt bike, police said Tuesday.

The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, authorities said.

After striking the cop, the teen was thrown from his bike and landed in the street, suffering minor injuries, cops said.

The boy – whose name was not officially released because he is a minor – went to Maimonides Medical Center, where he, too, was listed in stable condition.

He was later slapped with multiple charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, assault, obstruction of governmental administration, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Meanwhile, the second suspect, who wore all black, took off on a black two-wheeled vehicle, cops said.

Details on the initial robbery that drew police to the scene were unknown Tuesday.

The incident is just the latest in a string of recent crimes involving motorists plowing into on-duty NYPD cops.

Just last Wednesday, Tino Zalivar, 57, was arrested for allegedly striking a cop with his Jeep on South Railroad Avenue near Hamden Avenue in Staten Island, cops said.

The officer was getting documents out of his cruiser when Zaldivar sideswiped him, sending him to the hospital, authorities said then.

Zaldivar initially fled the scene but was later arrested and slapped with a laundry list of charges: assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and reckless endangerment of property, cops said.

And in late January, a hit-and-run driver rammed an NYPD cop who tried to stop him on Vermilyea Avenue near West 204th Street in Inwood for “an observed violation,” authorities said then.

Days earlier, Sahara Dula, 24 – who was driving the wrong way on the Upper East Side – intentionally barreled into a police officer who tried to redirect her, cops said at the time.

Another moped rider intentionally plowed into an NYPD cop who tried to stop him at 171st Street and Morris Avenue in the Mount Eden section of the Bronx last month, police said.

At least two similarly brazen incidents involving officers struck occurred in December –  in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and North Corona, Queens, police have said.

The Post exclusively revealed Sunday that NYPD cops have been assaulted by suspects at a record-setting pace – with 4,077 officers hurt in just the first nine months of 2023, on pace for a total of 5,436 injuries, the latest NYPD stats show.

The data for the last quarter of 2023 had not been officially released.

“Well over 5,000 cops were attacked and injured last year – that’s not only a record, it’s a full-blown epidemic,” Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry told The Post.

“The vicious attacks on police officers we’ve seen recently didn’t come out of nowhere. This dangerous environment has been building for years. . . . It’s not going to get better until those who attack police officers are consistently prosecuted and kept in jail. And that won’t happen unless New Yorkers keep speaking up to demand an end to the chaos.”
