Ben Affleck has struck up a friendship with David Beckham and he’s planning on hanging out with the soccer superstar and his wife Victoria now that the U.K. power couple has planted roots in Miami – which has ex wife Jennifer Lopez steaming with jealousy, an insider exclusively tells In Touch.
“J. Lo has always really liked and admired Victoria, back when she was married to Marc Anthony they got very close,” the source says, adding, “They used to hang out a lot. After she and Marc split, she and Victoria drifted apart, but she still considers her a friend.”
J. Lo, 55, even turned to the Beckhams for comfort immediately after her marriage to Marc, 56, crumbled in June 2014. A different source previously told Closer in March 2021 that the Spice Girl, 50, had been “best friends” with the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer, and were so close she and her husband even helped pass along concerns about the former couple’s kid, Emme, after they separated.
But after the Bronx-native filed for divorce from her fourth husband, Ben, 52, on August 18 following a rocky summer for the pair, the Beckhams seem to be turning their attention toward their new friend.
Reprising his role as a commercial director after his 2024 Super Bowl Dunkin’ spot, Ben has even roped the former footballer into more of his shenanigans with best friend Matt Damon as the three buddy up to film a new beer ad.
The deep history between J. Lo and the Beckhams is why the source says that Ben’s new bromance is “really upsetting for her,” as “Ben is suddenly all over them.”
Even though the Gone Girl star seems to be keeping his distance from his ex, with a second source previously telling In Touch he’d “rather not” see The Wedding Planner actress unless he absolutely has to, Jen isn’t letting go of the idea that her ex husband is still trying to mess with her head, with the first insider telling, “She’s convinced he’s only doing it to spite her, because back when they were together, he never showed any interest in hanging out with them even though J. Lo swears she suggested it multiple times.”
“Now all of a sudden, he’s throwing himself around a lot of her old friends and just basically scavenging. She flat out accused Ben of trying to steal her friends to get a rise out of her.”
J. Lo’s fixation on her ex is in line with what a third source had confirmed for In Touch, who spilled that while “she claims to be moving on from Ben, the truth is quite the opposite.”
“As much as she talks a good game about moving forward, the truth is she’s still just as obsessed as ever,” the source added.
With accusations of friend-stealing flying, the first insider says Ben “scoffed at her arrogance.”
“The way he tells it, all he wants to do is put J. Lo in his rearview and isn’t thinking of her at all.”
