Ben Affleck Reacts to Being Called Hollywood’s Most Eligible Bachelor

Ben Affleck isn’t letting his failed marriage with Jennifer Lopez bring him down.

While at dinner at West Hollywood hotspot Lavo Ristorante on Thursday, May 8, the Batman actor, 52, was asked by TMZ in Spanish how “Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor” was feeling.

Choosing to laugh off the question, Ben replied, “Muy bien,” in Spanish, which translates to “very good.”

“Do you still like Latinas?” the outlet asked, alluding to his former marriage to one of the most famous Latinas in the world. Without hesitation, Ben replied, “Of course I do.”

Ben often surprises fans with his fluent Spanish, a skill he picked up at age 13 while living in Mexico for a year to film a children’s TV show.

The Accountant star is considered one of Hollywood’s most sought-after men after Jennifer, 55, filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, a date that marked the two-year anniversary of their lavish Georgia nuptials. Their divorce was finalized in January 2025.

Fans were disappointed to see Ben and Jen’s rekindled romance come to an end, especially since their love story began back in the early 2000s after meeting on the set of Gigli. The pair were initially set to make it down the aisle in September 2003, but they called off their wedding just days before the planned ceremony, confirming their split just four months later.

The couple reunited nearly 20 years later and got engaged a second time in April 2022. Ben and Jen celebrated their nuptials with a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022 and had a second ceremony in Georgia the following month.

Although Ben and Jen have yet to publicly disclose the reason for their split, the Gone Girl actor recently broke his silence, claiming that there wasn’t one specific factor that led to the end of their marriage.

“There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly … the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he told GQ in March. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue [about our divorce]. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no, ‘This is what happened.’”

Jen recently revealed how she broke the news to her 17-year-old twins, Emme and Max, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony. During her marriage to Ben, they were known for prioritizing the blending of their families. Ben has three children — Violet, 19, Seraphina “Fin,” 16, and Samuel, 13 — from his previous marriage to Jennifer Garner.

“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it,” the “All I Have” singer told Spanish newspaper El País on May 2. “And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”

In addition, the J. Lo Beauty founder shared that she’s been healing and feels in a better place than she has in years.

“I’m happier that I’m a step further along than I was a year ago, two years ago, three years ago … I’m proud of myself for that and I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times, that they’re stronger and better because of it,” she continued. “So, it’s a great time to go out there and dance and sing and have a good time with everybody.”
