Recent reports claim that Apple might be releasing a foldable iPhone within the next year — and word on the street is that its price tag could potentially soar well past $2,000.
While nothing is definitive just yet, analysts are predicting that the tech company’s first ever foldable phone could start at $2,299 — making it the most expensive phone model to date, according to Mac Rumors.
Right now the iPhone 16 Pro Max holds the title for being Apple’s largest and most expensive phone — starting at $1,199.
This news comes after British bank Barclays analyst Tim Long and his team met with hardware manufacturers while on a recent trip to Asia.
Long told Mac Rumors that because of the elite price point, he thinks sales will be limited.
And he’s not the only expert predicting a gasp-inducing ask for the gadget.
Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo quoted an even higher sum — around $2,500.
But contrary to Long, Kuo believes people will run to buy this breakthrough device when it’s available — because it’ll be the first of its kind for Apple users.
These predictions are informed by how much Samsung charges customers for their Galaxy Z Fold6 phone — which is $1,899.
If you’re wondering what this foldable iPhone will look like, it’s expected to be very thin measuring around 4.5mm when open — and somewhere between 9mm and 9.5mm when folded, according to Kuo.
It’s also predicted to have one front camera, two rear cameras, and a Touch ID power button instead of Face ID.
There has been a lot of Apple talk lately — right around the same time these foldable iPhone rumors were released, leaked photos showed what the new iPhone 17 might look like.
While the new phone model is expected to be released later this year, Apple fanatics got a glimpse of the iPhone 17’s potential camera — thanks to photos leaked on X of metal “dummy models.”
Each dummy model had a different camera design — one was vertical with two lenses and the other three had rectangular bars, with either one or three lenses.
The mockups also hinted at one of the iPhone 17 models being extremely thin — which might be the awaited iPhone Air.
