Angelina Jolie’s Brother’s Wife Filed For Annulment Months Before Reconciliation
Angelina Jolie’s brother James Haven’s wife filed for annulment only days after they wed but she plans to dismiss the case after their recent reconciliation, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, James, 51, and The Real L Word star Romi Imbelli, who previously went by Romi Klinger, wed on August 12, 2024.
Romi filed a petition to annul the marriage due to alleged fraud on August 27, 2024. She listed the date of separation as August 26, 2024, only days after the couple got married on August 12, 2024.
In her filing, Romi said they did not have any children. She said she did not want any support from James. Romi also asked that her former name be restored to Romi Marie Imeblli.
On September 20, 2024, James, without the help of a lawyer, filed his response to Romi’s divorce.
He also asked that the marriage be annulled. He listed the same date of marriage and date of separation in his filing.
James also asked the court to annul the marriage due to “fraud.” James also noted there were no community assets or debts that needed to be resolved.
In October 2024, James and Romi were exchanging financial documents in the divorce, including turning over a list of their income and assets.
However, the case has had no movement since October 21, 2024. The court docket still lists the case as “active” and the parties have yet to file a dismissal.
Romi tells In Touch that their lawyers are handling the annulment being dismissed and that they are “happily back together and very much married.”
On December 31, 2024, Romi announced she had wed James. The marriage was previously unknown.
“In 2024, I married my best friend of 23 years. The details of our story are too personal and complicated to share now, but I am writing it all in my book,” she wrote on social media. “Our wedding day was intimate, just us and our parents while exchanging vows, with plans to have a larger celebration later.”
She added, “Unfortunately, we had a big fight the next day. After 5 months of much crying, healing, and reflection, we decided to work through our issues and are now planning a special day with my daughter. I feel liberated and ready to return to my husband and our home in L.A.”
Just Jared reported that James’ father, Jon, was present for the ceremony, but Angelina, 49, did not attend.
On January 4, Romi shared another photo from their wedding. She wrote, “I will be celebrating my birthday tonight with my family after not seeing my husband since shortly after our wedding. Last night, I was overwhelmed with emotions. Someone made a hurtful comment insinuating that my social media activity and happiness were a result of me being off. In reality, it is because I have been keeping a big secret and processing a lot on my own, and now I am ready to fully embrace marriage and enjoy the excitement that I missed in August.”
Back in 2000, Angelina sparked controversy when she kissed James on the lips at the Golden Globes. Angelina went on to win the Oscar that year for Best Supporting Actress.
