Brute strikes elderly woman with golf club in NYC subway station

A man struck a woman in the head with what appeared to be a golf club during yet another disturbing, unprovoked attack in the subway system, police said. 

The victim, 66, was standing by the turnstiles at the Cortlandt Street R/W subway station in the Financial District around 7:30 a.m. Friday when the masked brute clobbered her with the what appeared to be a fairway wood, leaving a gash on the left side of her head, police said. 

The perp then ran off, taking his golf club with him, according to cops.

The unprovoked attack occurred by the turnstiles inside of Cortlandt Street R/W subway station in the Financial District around 7:30 a.m. Friday, according to cops. DCPI

No words were exchanged between the woman and her attacker, authorities said. 

The senior was taken to New York Downtown Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. 

Police have yet to make any arrests. 

The NYPD released video footage of the suspect Saturday, and asked the public for any information to help identify him.
