Pete Davidson Shuts Down Rehab Rumors by Attending NBA Game
Pete Davidson shut down rumors that he had checked himself into rehab by stepping out with his mom, Amy Davidson, to attend an NBA game.
The Saturday Night Live alum, 31, was spotted sitting courtside next to Amy, 55, to watch the Brooklyn Nets take on the Charlotte Hornets at the Barclay Center on Tuesday, November 19. Pete looked cozy in a brown Lehigh Athletics sweatshirt, jeans and a white beanie.
Earlier this week, the rumor mill was working overtime as claims that Pete checked himself into rehab due to a bad breakup with The Bachelor star Maria Georgas made the rounds.
“He checked into rehab in Florida fairly recently,” a source told The U.S. Sun on Monday, November 18. “He flew in on a private jet. He’s in pretty bad shape this time around. He’s not in a good place.”
However, Maria, 30, slammed the rumors via her Instagram Stories.
“Never dated Pete. False rumor! I’m friends with his sister. Case closed,” the reality star wrote on Tuesday, November 19.
In the following slide, she added, “Just spoke to his sister. He’s not in rehab and has been sober for months. Can’t believe this s–t. It’s very insulting to his recovery and my mental health. He’s literally home.”
In July, People confirmed that the King of Staten Island star had checked into a wellness facility for mental health reasons and a source told the outlet that mental health has “always been a priority” for Pete.
“Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issues. His friends and family have been supportive during this time,” the insider explained.
The stay came on the heels of the comedian storming off the stage in Omaha, Nebraska, mid-show.
“Pete had a standup performance in Omaha, but the crowd got to him so he walked off before finishing his set,” an insider exclusively told In Touch on May 23. “He was getting relentlessly heckled by some people in the audience. Everyone is making a big deal about it except for Pete.”
The source continued, “Pete, who still struggles with depression, is being praised by his friends, and a lot of his fans, for not taking any crap that affects his mental health. That’s why he left the stage. His number one priority is his mental wellbeing.”
The Big Time Adolescence star has been open about his struggles with his mental health and addiction issues in the past, which is closely linked to his PTSD and bipolar personality disorder.
“I can’t quit [weed] yet. It’s all I have left,” Pete joked to the crowd during the Pete Davidson: Rehab Tour in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on July 20. “I did coke and ketamine and f–king all the pills and all that s–t. All I have is weed left, so it’s almost over, but I’m holding on for a little bit longer.”
The Bodies, Bodies, Bodies actor has also admitted he struggled with ketamine addiction in the past, as well, and even admitted that he was high on the drug when he attended Aretha Franklin’s funeral in 2018.
“It’s embarrassing when you’re not on ketamine anymore, though … I’m embarrassed. I was out and about like that,” Pete said during his Netflix special, Turbo Fonzarelli, in January.
