Dolores Catania has provided an update on the next season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey three months after the show typically begins filming.
While appearing at the New Jersey Women’s Expo at the NJ Convention and Exposition Center on Saturday, November 9, Dolores, 53, told the crowd that she “doesn’t know” when the cast will be filming again.
“I don’t know when we’ll be filming again because we’re in trouble,” she spilled.
In a video exclusively obtained by In Touch Weekly, the philanthropist went on to say, “We really don’t know. Nobody knows. But you know what I’m going to be on? Does anybody here watch Traitors? I’m on the next season. I’m very excited.”
Dolores will be returning to TV when season 3 of Traitors premieres on January 9, 2025. She’ll be joining other stars who have been announced for the competition show, including Sam Asghari, Nikki Garcia, Dorinda Medley, Tom Sandoval and Chrishell Stause.
As far as season 15 of RHONJ, the cast expected to be part of the new season remains up in the air and it’s not known at this time who, if any, will be returning.
Season 14, which ended in August with a non-traditional reunion special, included stars Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, Dolores Catania, Margaret Josephs, Jennifer Aydin, Danielle Cabral and Rachel Fuda.
The cast couldn’t get along with each other and formed separate teams. Over the summer, Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen claimed the show was going to get a “reboot.”
“We are rebooting the show,” he told a fan who called into the “Andy Cohen Live SiriusXM” radio show. “We’re gonna reboot it. We’re gonna do something different.”
A few days later, he clarified his comments since fans were shocked by his admission.
“I was just riffing,” the Watch What Happens Live host said. “We are going to reimagine the show in some way, and I was just like, ‘Yeah, we’re rebooting. … Who knows? Maybe it’ll be all fresh faces.’ And that was just me kind of in the mood.”
At the New Jersey Women’s Expo on Saturday, Dolores explained to the crowd how exhausting filming can be and how it can unexpectedly end up taking up an entire day if drama ensues during a meet up.
“…Then that next scene, guess what? You’re not going home after this, sis. You got to go visit Margaret and tell her what just happened at Teresa’s house. They’re going to find out and it’s a common understanding. A housewife isn’t being two-faced by telling another friend in that moment,” she told the crowd in Edison, New Jersey.
Her keynote session ended with the moderator asking her what she has planned next if Housewives doesn’t end up filming. The mom-of-two opened up about how she wants to be an advocate for menopause and help empower other women.
“I’m working on being an advocate for women going through menopause because I don’t think there’s enough talk about it because there’s such a shame in it, and I suffered terribly for the past two years.”
“I refuse to take hormones. I’ll cut myself in half, of course, plastic surgery all day. But, hormones there was mixed reviews about them and it is torture. Women go through such torture, and they don’t even learn about it in medical school,” she said.
Following Dolores’ Q&A, former housewife Caroline Manzo took the stage to promote her cookbook, Food & Other Things I Love: More than 100 Italian American Recipes from My Family to Yours.
She hinted that she would not want to return to the show after not being on RHONJ for over a decade. “I have zero tolerance for stupid and I don’t like to hurt people. When I see somebody hurting somebody, especially to get that moment, that ah-ha moment, it would drive me insane. And it would just kind of bubble inside of me and I have stopped more fights from happening on TV than you know because I’m an observer,” she told the crowd.
“I’m very quiet and I just watch. And I would see, wait a minute, they want this to happen and that’s going to happen, and I don’t mind a verbal altercation, that’s fine. But when you’re going to throw something at somebody, that’s wrong… They would say to me, ‘Why are you stopping it?’ I would say, ‘Because someday, somebody’s going to get hurt and then what? Is it worth it?’”
