Illegal migrants jewelry-store heist damns Biden border crisis AND failed NY criminal justice ‘reforms’
New York’s unending migrant crisis has entered the “dark comedy” phase: A crew of illegals who used saws to break into a Long Island jewelry store early Thursday was let go without bail — and then used the same tools to cut off their ankle monitors and vanish.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, one of the more reliably sane Empire State voices, thundered: “It’s a damn disgrace.”
He’s dead right.
The sextet of thugs reportedly came to the United States from Venezuela and Chile as part of the crime-tourism wave sweeping the nation, an inevitable consequence both of the Biden-Harris wave-them-in border policy and pro-crime DAs in big deep-blue cities.
Their robbery was technically daring (and a bit reminiscent of Jules Dassin’s classic 1955 film noir “Rififi”). But the crooks bungled the getaway and got scooped up the same night.
In a sane country, they would’ve been jailed until they got loaded onto the next plane back to Caracas and Santiago.
This is a crew of professional thieves who crossed the border illegally.
But in prog-run New York, in Biden’s America?
Their burglary was not bail-eligible thanks to our state’s disastrous criminal justice “reforms,” so five soon walked free (the sixth had an open warrant for crimes in Pennsylvania, so he should have already been given the boot).
Two of the five never showed up to be fitted with ankle monitors; the other three sawed theirs off.
And now they’re in the wind, free to rob once more — or peddle drugs or rape or kill.
What are the odds these thugs will graduate to the really heavy stuff now that they’ve gotten the high sign from wokeists federal and state?
Donald Trump based his victory in large part on a promise to end this madness.
Until he and his new administration can, New Yorkers will be left wondering why on earth their government is so much tougher on poor little squirrels like P’Nut than it is on slimeballs like these guys.
