Blade-wielding creep busted trying to kidnap baby in Queens: cops
A blade-wielding creep was busted this week for allegedly trying to kidnap a 2-year-old girl in Queens, snarling at the tot’s mom “give me your baby or I’ll stab you!” authorities and sources said.
Peter Vonderhofen, 32, approached the 31-year-old woman on his bike around 3 p.m. Thursday while brandishing a knife and barked the disturbing threat before fleeing the area near Atlantic Avenue and 109th Street in South Richmond Hill, according to cops and sources.
The mother and her child were not harmed and police captured Vonderhofen about 30 minutes later.
Once in custody, investigators linked the suspect to two armed robberies that were carried out near the same intersection, less than 24 hours apart, last week, police and sources said.
Authorities said Vonderhofen allegedly snatched a 44-year-old woman’s purse at knife point and stole the items inside after approaching her at 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 2.
The next day, at around 8:35 p.m., the lowlife allegedly came up behind a 49-year-old man, placed his hand around the victim and stole his cell phone while flaunting his knife, police said.
Police said the two alleged robberies happened at the same location.
Vonderhofen was later charged with first-degree robbery for each incident.
He is also charged with second-degree attempted kidnapping, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17 and menacing in the second degree.
