Blackstone CEO to back Trump, cites economic concerns, rise of antisemitism
Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman confirmed Friday he will support Donald Trump in his White House rematch with President Biden.
As The Post first reported on Sunday, Schwarzman, one of the biggest political donors on Wall Street, was seriously considering backing Trump as antisemitism spreads around the country, especially on college campuses.
The Blackstone boss said Friday that concerns about economic, immigration and foreign policies under Biden, along with “the dramatic rise of antisemitism” in the country, drove his decision to endorse Trump, according to a statement issued to Axios.
Long viewed as a Trump ally, Schwarzman had said in 2022 he would not back the former president, saying it was time for the Republican Party to turn to a new generation of leaders.
He did not back any candidate in the primaries.
Blackstone did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
